Building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) is solar power-generating products or systems that use Cadmium Telluride solar glass that are seamlessly integrated into the building envelope and part of building components such as facades, roofs or windows. BIPV systems replace conventional building materials with solar photovoltaic glass, allowing buildings to generate clean and renewable energy.

The BAPV method consists of fitting modules to existing surfaces via superimposition once construction has been completed, such as during an energy renovation project. This is the approach adopted for traditional photovoltaic solutions.
