Low-Light Performance

CdTe solar materials excel in low light and shaded conditions due to their wide spectral absorption range. With up to 80% shading, CdTe's power output remains efficient. In contrast, monocrystalline silicon performs best in direct sunlight, and any shading over 20% significantly reduces its output due to its sensitivity to light angle and shading.
Safety & Fire Resistance

CdTe solar glass features a double-glass structure with dual PVB interlayers, offering enhanced impact resistance, structural stability, and superior fire retardancy—making it ideal for integrated building applications (BIPV). In contrast, monocrystalline silicon modules often rely on single-glass designs and EVA encapsulation, which is more susceptible to degradation under heat and humidity, and provides weaker performance in fire safety and long-term durability.
Transparency

CdTe thin-film technology allows for higher light transmission, making it perfect for large-scale applications like skylights and facades, where both power generation and aesthetic appeal are required. Monocrystalline silicon, due to its structure and soldering, typically has lower transparency and is less suitable for applications needing high light transmittance.
